Take a Bite Out of Drawing

I adapted this fun activity from a post I saw on...you guessed it Pinterest. We began class with a discussion about how art has different purposes and one of those can be humor! The students really got excited about making funny drawings and many of them came back to me later and said they taught their whole family how to draw these funny drawings. You start by folding a piece of paper in half, then fold back each side to the line (as if you were making a paper airplane).

Olympic Zentangles

I love the Olympics! We were already in the middle of other projects but we took time to enjoy a few Olympic highlights and use the pictograms as a model for our figures.  The Zentangle is very "in" right now, but I will admit once you get started it is highly addicting!

Snowmen Shading

It finally feels like spring so I better get my Winter art up on the blog!  These are 5th grade snowmen made with chalk. They loved making the snowmen look "real" with shading techniques.  We read the Snowmen at Night series by Caralyn and Mark Buehner for inspiration.
